Nuffnang Contest: Alice in Wonderland

I read Alice in Wonderland for a nineteenth century literature module and it was probably one of my favorite texts on the module. It is actually categorized under the genre of "nonsense fiction"! The unabridged version is just awesome for its witty word play and it is hilarious!

The complete title of this book is actually: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and it is written by a thirty-year-old mathematician, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (who took on the pen name "Lewis Carroll"). The story was originally told spontaneously to three girls and written down from memory for their private entertainment. And the main character in the book, Alice was named after one of the girls, Alice Liddell.

My favorite character in the book is oddly, the White Rabbit. Partly because he was the one who led Alice into Wonderland and the first character Alice runs into, but mostly because the image of a rabbit in a waistcoat-pocket and a watch is too cute to resist! It also a little kan cheong spider, I mean rabbit, that is always worried about incurring the wrath of the Queen. Actually, the White Rabbit always reminds of a self-important, old butler who takes the effort to dress to the tops but is ultimately always at the mercy of the Queen. It is hard not to sympathize and love this Rabbit!

For Alice in Wonderland fans, the upcoming movie by Tim Burton is a must-watch
